Celebrating our growth with a look back at how EMA Patient Transport began
With a team of dedicated professionals, we are continuing to support increasing numbers of organisations and individuals through providing safe and secure Mental Health transport, and more recently patients requiring additional support through our newly launched NEPTS.
To celebrate our growth, we wanted to take it back to the beginning and share how EMA Patient Transport came to be and what our plans are for the future, to enable us to continue supporting as many people as possible.
In this blog, our Director and Founder Sam Easy shares his thoughts and story.
When did it all start?
We started back in 2003 as Easy Management of Aggression Limited, acting as a training provider to the health and social care sector, offering Prevention and Management of violence and aggression training (PMVA) amongst others.
We later added EMA Patient Transport to the company as our repertoire of skills grew and the need for a premium service was required.
Why did you decide to set up EMA Patient Transport?
Seeing the lack of standards from other providers including patient care was really what prompted me to set up our transport service. From our experience, I knew that we could offer a premium service that would provide the patient with the most positive experience possible.
We were also receiving numerous requests from customers asking if we would consider starting a patient transport service, as they knew it would be done properly and we were delighted to able to meet this demand.
Since launching, what have been your top 3 milestone moments?
I am proud of all that EMA Patient Transport has achieved up until now, but if I had to pick 3 top moments it would be:
- Being recognised as a preferred provider by the NHS
- Designing our own vehicles, to ensure they perfectly cater to all patients
- Building a great team along the journey
What do you think makes EMA Patient Transport unique?
I feel we are unique in more ways than one.
Firstly, most of the team including myself have a background in working in Mental Health, be it within the NHS or Private.
So alongside the specific training we have undergone in regard to patient transport, we already have years of experience behind us, from caring for patients through to managing disturbed behaviour.
Secondly, we pay attention to detail from the first point of contact right through to the end of a conveyance. We believe that communication is paramount and keep our clients informed every step of the way.
We take huge pride in our work, which is not seen often from other providers and our team are all so passionate about what they do and in providing the patient with the best possible experience.
What are your plans for the future?
In terms of plans for the future, we will be looking to expand our service into different areas of the UK so that we can reach and support even more clients that require a premium service from an experienced and trusted provider.
